Pandora for
Android Wear

Pandora for Android is Pandora’s third major wearable app after Pebble and Apple Watch. Unlike previous watch apps, all playblack controls are surfaced on one screen for easy access.

Launching Stations

Stations can be launched from the My Music screen. The player transitions from the bottom of the screen and can be accessed at anytime from My Music by tapping on the equalizer icon.

Playback

Unlike previous watch apps, all playblack controls are surfaced on one screen for easy access. The visual design took cues from both our mobile Plus and Premium products, their colors and icons respectively. For example, when a user taps to thumb-up a song, a circle clearly indicates their selection, no matter their level of color perception.

Information at your Finger Tips

The details of the currently playing song and album are immediately apparent in the Now Playing screen. Tapping those details cycle through the track’s elapsed time and duration, and the name of the station that is currently playing. Admittedly this is a hidden detail, but it allows for extra information to be displayed without cluttering the screen. This is easy to recall and access, once the user has been educated.

Controlling the Volume

Android Wear runs on smart watches of all shapes and sizes. To adjust the volume, we had to develop a UI that could work, whether or not the smart watch running the app had a crown as a hardware interface. Swiping left brings up a simple up/down volume control screen that the user can tap to adjust accordingly.
